EXCLUSIVE: MY USC THESIS FILM “SPIRIT BOI” 🎥🍄

After many weeks of going through the production process in the USC class “CTPR 310: Intermediate Production”, my USC junior thesis project “SPIRIT BOI” is ready to share. This will be the only place you can reliably find it, since the YouTube link must remain unlisted for a few specific reasons.

SPIRIT BOI is a semi-true story with some flavorful fiction dropped into the mix. In the future I’ll make a post talking about the preparation process for this film, and the fascinating inspiration for the story. Another large factor in the development of this film were the extreme COVID restrictions we were required to produce under. (Due to the tightening rules I went through 5 ideas before this and 6 versions of this script). Everyone you see here are my current housemates, and the location is directly adjacent to our living space. I served as the writer/director of this film, but had immense help from two amazing trio members Lindsay Wolf and Yong Loh :)

One last disclaimer: the quality has unfortunately been reduced throughout the pipeline, and the pacing may feel odd since the cut had to come in under 5.5 minutes. I would really love to take all the things I learned from this project and apply them to an out-of-school passion project with fewer technical limitations, production restrictions, and more turnaround time at every step. With that being said, please leave any thoughts and questions in the comments, I hope you enjoy!
